Halloween for Wesley the Dino

Balloon given at storytime on Halloween Eve was a hit. It's one of the words he can "say" but comes out "boon boon".

An attmept at the group picture at the storytime Halloween party. I kept on picking up Wesley and setting him in the group and he would promptly walk away and just stare at everyone? I don't know?

Dino's need water too.

On Halloween we had to run to get a few things at the store and Wesley wanted to wear his costume. And let's face it I wanted him to wear his costume. Stage mom. ;) The check-out lady was so nice and insisted on giving Wesley a blow pop. But it was one of those things that was nice but I was like "wait maybe not??" But then, I thought you know what it's Halloween- whatever...let him have a little sugar! He would probably have a couple licks and get sick of it anyway!!! No no, that didn't happen. Somehow by the time we got to the car there was blow pop all over both of us and when I tried to get the thing out of his mouth he would clench his jaw really tight. That's the stage we were at in the above picture.

Eventually I took him trick or treating to a couple of the shops that we live behind and he was so distracted by the other trick or treaters he let me take the blow pop out of his mouth. He had sucked all the way to the gum? Intense. Baby's first blow pop.

As I mentioned the shops in downtown Guthrie do trick or treating for the kids. Lots of kids come...hundreds! So Wesley and I braved that for a very short while. He held my hand and we stopped at a couple stores and they would put candy in his bag. As long as he held my hand this system was working. But he tires quickly from holding my hand and thinks it's perfectly ok to run through the streets alone.

Runaway Dino. Wrong way buddy...trick or treating is in the other direction.

We finally had to call it a night after he kept insisting on running away. When I brought him home he was crying so hard. He wanted to go back outside and trick or treat. I told that to Robert and he said it sounded like it was a successful first trick or treat. I guess his theory is leave them wanting more. Wesley the Dino definitely wanted more Halloween and blow pops.

HP

You will only find this slightly funny if you're from or have lived in Dallas. Guthrie's premiere park is named Highland Park, which is ironic because nothing in Guthrie resembles the community of Highland Park in Dallas. Seriously, nothing. I can't think of a single thing.

No offense to Guthrie. You have your charm and cobblestone roads, but you're just not Highland Park. Not even a distant cousin if we are being real.

Reluctant crafting...

So Wesley goes to storytime every Wednesdy at the public library here which is about a 2 minute walk from where we live. He's still on the young side to get into the songs and rhymes or sit still, but I think it's good for him to go and I think he does enjoy it even when he's running around like he has ADHD and all the other kids are sitting there quietly listening.

At the beginning of October there was a sign up sheet out to bring stuff to the upcoming Halloween party, which was actually today, the 30th. I signed up for juice boxes, thinking I can't mess that up...that will be easy!

At the next story time the sheet is still out and I see that someone has also signed up to bring juice boxes. I mean like 7 kids under 4 come to this story time. How many juice box volunteers do we need??

At the end of story time, the fellow juice box signer, calls me out.
"Who else singed up for juice boxes??!"
"That's me!" I say.
"Want to decorate them?" she says.
UMMM NO. I think, but I say...
"Well sure that would be fun!"
"Just go to Pinterest and search juice boxes and we can make mummy juice boxes. You know Pinterest, right." she says.
"Yes yes I know Pinterest!" I say.

Then she tells me that these are her grandkids that she brings to story time and she wishes Pinterest would have been around earlier. And I think "well really do you?!" because now we are decorating juice boxes for toddlers who won't even comprehend that it's supposed to be a mummy??! But I nod and say I know isn't it awesome?!

My mummy juice boxes. In my mom life I wasn't prepared to have to buy "googly eyes" in the craft section before Wesley was two.

To put the icing on the mummy juice box cake, this sweet crafty juice box-bringing grandma got there early and set up her juice boxes before me so therefore no one had one of my mummy juice boxes except one I forced on Wesley. So now, I have 12 mummy juice boxes, which brings me back to my primary issue- there didn't need to be 2 volunteers for juice boxes.

Pppppfffffffftttttttt

Here's what really scares me about this whole thing. This is just storytime in a really small town and I was already forced to craft?? What's going to happen when Wesley's in school in a bigger city?? I'm scared. I'm just scared.

There's a blurry Wesley, the dinosaur, and her mummy juice boxes in the corner.

Mummy juice boxes...just the beginning...

Meet Ringo!!

This is Ringo the bear. Which Wesley just calls "B!!!" It's Wesley's favorite stuffed animal by far. His name is is Ringo because one of my best friends, Jill, gave it to Wesley when she asked him to be the ring bearer in her wedding. I don't know, the name just makes sense...am I right?

We sing a little tune to Ringo often..."Ringo, Ringo the bear!!!" #theweirdthingsparentsdo

Anyway, back to ring bearing- Wesley, of course, accepted the task and is so excited and honored to be part of such a special weekend. It's actually this weekend! Ahhhh! Tux is ordered, plans are set and we will see if Wesley can make it down the aisle without causing a scene or a viral you tube video about a 1 and a half year old causing a wedding disaster.

We've moved!

You know those cute postcards people send out when they move to a new home? I love getting those and think they are so cute. If I was a together person and had superfluous funds maybe I would have sent some out the couple times we've moved over the past 18 months.

Yes we are gypsies! With a baby!

Just to catch you up....Wesley was born. 3 weeks later we went to Seattle for 6 weeks where the film my husbands been working on was in production. Then we came back to Dallas, put most of our stuff in storage and abruptly moved to Houston. Where we lived with my in-laws. For over a year. Yes, you're reading that correctly. See no wonder I had to stop blogging. No one needs to hear about living with your inlaws ;). It actually wasn't bad. Okay I'm lying it definitely was at times. Haha. Awkward laugh. But we survived and it was fine! Now we are living in Guthrie, Oklahoma where my husband is finishing up the film. We will be here until the end of November and then we're not sure.

It's been a little crazy sometimes. But I'm grateful to be along for the ride and keep the faith that God is in the drivers seat. When you are helpless in concrete plans for your future I've found it's pretty key just to trust God with the day ahead of you and not get ahead of yourself. It's extremely comforting to remind myself  that He is all knowing and already has our little family's plan all mapped out. Everywhere He plants us is part of His plan. When I'm sulky about not being "settled" I remind myself of that and I get excited. I don't need to worry because God already has the "we've moved" postcards addressed and filled out on every place we are ever going to live. He knows so I don't need to and that is a wonderful thing. :)

Things moms say....

About the middle of September, Sarah called and asked what I was doing. I replied, "getting out Wesley's Halloween books." She said, "Halloween books?" She didn't know that was a thing. Oh yes Halloween books are a thing. There's a whole display of them that come out in the Barnes and Noble children's section. My mother in law is mostly responsible for our collection. We are in full out Halloween book mode over here.

Sadly we don't have any Thanksgiving books. Poor neglected Turkey Day...

Currently

I looked from the kitchen to see this. Wesley with a book on his lap turning pages while watching the Today show.

Here's the thing....

Hello to my 3 readers who are still out there.

Can you ever go back? Back home. Back to a relationship. Back to a blog? Can you pick back up something you've neglected? A hobby. A friend. A blog?

Does that work? How does that work? Did Emily Post or Kate Spade throw together an etiquette on this?

Can you go back to blogging on a blog that hasn't seen a post for over a year and a half?

Questions I ponder and do not know. I think some would say that you can't go back you can only go forward. With that in mind I feel that I would love and feel a pull to move forward and start up blogging again. I miss the process of producing my typo filled posts. I miss sharing and I miss reading the blogs that I learned so much from and felt so connected to.

I have to state - I do not know how moms blog. New moms, moms of toddlers, moms of adults (ok jk on the last one. Moms of adults live on Facebook. So we know they have time to blog.) what I do know is that moms DO blog because I used read their blogs daily. It will remain a mystery to me and I applaud those that do. Obviously, I could not make that work in my mom life.

What's funny is that I was going to post my whole birth story. Like I was writing the post in my head when I was still in the hospital. I had so much to share, stories over flowing that I didn't want to forget. I remember I wanted to start the post off with the bible verse that says "and the woman will have pain during child birth" and tell you all that I could now affirm that is true. God wasn't lying. Would I have 5 more babies though? The insane answer is yes. It's because the Bible also didn't lie about children being a gift from God. (Paraphrasing verses left and right here- excuse me.) It is so deeply deeply true. It is the most amazing gift and I still pinch myself that God gave this wonderful human to my husband and I.

I also fully intended to keep blogging post baby. (His name is Wesley by the way! 4 days away from being 18 months and a 30 pound muffinman. More on him later.) But, here we are so we know what happened there. No blogging. And I am totally ok with it. Any mom out there, even the blogging ones, get it. The baby comes and consumes life in a wonderful way and there's little time to be a normal person and just breathe for a second, let alone sit down and recap the events of the day in a blog post.

But more and more I've been wanting to start again. Realizing that I can make the time. Knowing that even if I couldn't post often or a lot of content I wanted to get back in the habit.

I discovered you can blog from your phone. People have been probably doing this since 2005, but this discovery has invigorated my blogging desire because I don't have a laptop. (#notarealproblem and yes I hashtag now.) My husband does have a laptop that I can use so don't start a charity for me just yet ;), but he needs it for work. So I solely use my phone and occasionally iPad for the days technology demands.

So I'll be blogging from my phone?? Let's see how this goes!!!!! Let the ppppffffftttttting plus one commence!!!
